Recall Data Limitations
Recall information displayed in useby is sourced from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS). While we synchronize this data on a regular schedule, you should be aware of the following limitations:
- There may be a delay between when a government agency publishes a recall and when it appears in useby
- Recall matching depends on barcode data, product categories, and date ranges, and may not identify every affected product in your inventory
- Product variants, regional packaging differences, or incomplete barcode data may prevent a match
- Recalls issued by agencies in countries other than the United States may not be included
- We do not originate recall data and cannot verify its accuracy beyond what the source agencies provide

Shelf-Life Estimates
Shelf-life information provided by useby is based on general food safety guidelines, category-level storage recommendations, and publicly available data. These are informational estimates, not guarantees. Actual shelf life depends on many factors, including:
- How the product was stored before you purchased it
- Temperature and humidity conditions in your home
- Whether the product has been opened and how long ago
- Manufacturing and packaging variations
- Individual product formulation

Notification Limitations
useby sends notifications about expiring products and recall matches through push notifications, in-app alerts, and email. However, notification delivery depends on factors outside our control, including your device settings, network connectivity, operating system behavior, battery optimization, and third-party notification services (Apple Push Notification Service, Firebase Cloud Messaging).
Critical
The absence of a notification from useby does not mean your products are safe or unaffected by a recall. You should not rely solely on useby notifications for product safety decisions. Regularly check your products, monitor official recall channels, and use the App as a supplementary tool alongside your own judgment.
Product Data Accuracy
Product information retrieved through barcode scanning comes from Open Food Facts and other publicly available databases. We do not guarantee the accuracy of product names, images, ingredients, allergen information, nutritional data, or other product details. The physical product label is always the authoritative source of product information.
Third-Party Content and Links
useby may display content sourced from or link to third-party websites, including government agencies, manufacturers, and product databases. Geographic Limitations

We strive to keep useby available and functioning reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, server issues, or circumstances beyond our control.
